The connector is designed for 900 µm buffered fibers. This device utilizes an APC polish. There is a factory-installed fiber stub. A cam lock secures connections. Each connector uses zirconia ferrules. It operates within -40°C to 75°C range.
2.0/3.0mm Cable
This Fast Connector is designed for 2.0 mm and 3.0 mm fiber optic cables. Each connector includes an internal mechanical splice mechanism. There is a pre-loaded index-matching gel. The ferrule has an 8-degree angled polish. The design of this product is robust and compact. It is a field-installable solution. You can use it for FTTx deployments. Each connector has a minimal loss of signal. The insertion loss is 0.2 dB.

Installation Procedure: Fast Connector!

Cable Preparation

Initially, you will use a jacket stripper tool with a 60-90 µm blade. Remove the outer 2.0 mm jacket of a drop cable to reveal the tight buffer. Adjust the dual-port buffer stripper to 900 µm, removing the coating, exposing the 250 µm acrylate layer of fiber. Subsequently, eliminate about 30-40 mm length of this layer, leaving the 125 µm cladding, using the fiber-stripper set at 250um.To clean anything out, you use a wipe that's 99.9 percent isopropyl alcohol. This ensures optimal performance for an optical time-domain reflectometer (OTDR). The SC/APC assembly ensures accurate fiber alignment.

Fiber Cleaving

Next, the preferred method is to use a precision cleaver for a 900 µm coated fiber with ± 0.5 deg. cutting angle tolerance. Achieve a cleave length between 8-20 mm. Maintain a tensile strength above 4.4 N after cutting. Put the fiber in the v groove. Ensure there is a 10 mm distance between the cleaver's blade edge, and the tip of the sheath. To do so, then activate the mechanism, and align it so it offers the 2.5 mm zirconia ceramic ferrule best performance. The SC/APC connector features a pre-polished end-face.

Connector Insertion

Thereafter, the prepared optical fiber will be introduced into the rear of the SC/APC fast connector body. Slide the 3.0 mm boot, guide it through its internal stop. Proper coupling requires that the 125-um diameter fiber be seated down into the v groove alignment mechanism correctly. Integrated cam lock is activated. It secures the 0.25 mm diameter buffer so there is a stable connection. The index-matching gel in this mechanism reduces Fresnel reflections. It is rated for operations, at temperatures between -40 to +85 degrees Celsius. Use its mechanical splice connector.

Visual Inspection

Finally, evaluate the terminated SC/APC fast connector with a visual fault locator (VFL) that has a 650 nm wavelength output. Make sure there’s no visible light leak and that the fiber isn’t bent beyond a 5 mm minimum bend radius at the connection point. Check that the 2.5 mm diameter pre polished ferrule is aligned in the connector housing. Look at the strain relief boot to be sure that it is securely attached and that it provides axial force protection as high as 50 Newtons.

الأسئلة الشائعة!

Expect a very minimal signal reduction, under 0.3 decibels (dB) for this fast connector. Single-mode fibers showcase around 0.2dB. Multimode fibers exhibit a range closer to 0.1dB, depending on the 50/125µm core. Performance is optimized with a clean cleave.
These fast connectors are engineered for a single deployment. The internal 8.3µm core fiber stub, pre-saturated with index-matching gel (1.46 refractive index), achieves optimal initial contact. Reinsertion compromises performance due to the 62.5µm core diameter variability. Therefore, reuse is not recommended.
This specific fast connector is designed for single-mode G.652.D and G.657.A2 cables. It accommodates 3.1 x 2.0 mm drop cables. Use simplex cables with a 9/125µm core/cladding structure and ensure that bending radius of fiber should be more than 10 mm.
Only a few primary tools are necessary for fast connector assembly. You will need a fiber stripper for jackets, a precision cleaver, 99% isopropyl alcohol, plus lint-free wipes. Accurate fiber preparation is made possible by these components. A visual fault locator is optional.
This fast connector maintains functionality between negative 40 degrees Celsius and positive 85 degrees Celsius. It supports deployments over 5G and contributes to resilience across them. The thermoplastic housing resists heat distortion. Metal components maintain alignment across the full range.
Fast connectors drastically decrease field termination duration. Expect completion within 60 seconds per connector. Fusion splicing, by contrast, requires roughly 5-7 minutes for each fiber due to its complexity. Epoxy-and-polish also exceed 10 minutes per termination. This improves workflow.
